The Mack Theater marquee greets you as you exit the green bridge and enter Irvine’s Main
Street.
Built in 1939 and operated as the Irvine Theater until it was renamed the Mack sometime in the
‘70s. The Mack closed in 1993.
River City Players organized in 2013. We purchased the building in 2016. We are working
through 4 Phases in our efforts to “Save the Mack”.
Phase 1: Make it Clean – EPA grant that remediated the hazardous materials.
Phase 2: Make it Safe – CDBG that stabilized the building and opened the lobby.
Phase 3: Make it Usable - We are applying for a second CDBG. We need $30,000 to secure the
required cash match.
Phase 4: Make it Pretty – This phase would complete a beautiful lounge located in the balcony.
