The goal of Estill Shines Charity Auction for 2024 is to raise funds to support youth initiatives in our community.

In 2022, EDA began facilitating conversations around a renewed focus on the young people in our community. We implemented a survey with the help of Estill County Schools to gauge how our youth view the community. With these new insights, we helped to form a new collaborative effort focused on providing our young people with more activities and opportunities to be involved. This group is called Estill Pathfinder Initiative Coalition (EPIC), and includes representatives from 12 sectors of our community, including youth voices. These youth voices are forming a group called Council of Engineers Leading for Tomorrow (CELT) that will be the link between our youth and the broader community. Together we will be implementing the Icelandic Prevention Model in Estill County, which is a long-term effort to provide more "stuff" for our youth to do with the hopes that substance use will decrease among our youth population. Healthier young people are the key to a brighter future for all of Estill County. Funds raised from Estill Shines will support EPIC as we are getting the effort off the ground and applying for funds to serve our youth in bigger and better ways moving forward!
